On April 22, 2025, the International Center for Refugee and Migration Studies (ICRMS) successfully conducted an impactful academic enrichment workshop on Entrepreneurship and Skill Development for both refugee and host students at the Training Hall, BUITEMS.
The event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, setting a respectful and uplifting tone. Mr. Muhammad Kazim, the event moderator, welcomed the participants. This was followed by Ms. Hifsa Ghafoor, Project Manager at ICRMS, who delivered the opening remarks. She emphasized the importance of capacity-building initiatives in empowering youth—especially those from refugee and host communities—toward a more sustainable and self-reliant future.
Following the opening session, Mr. Rahim Shah delivered an insightful presentation tailored for both host and Afghan refugee students. His talk provided practical guidance on entrepreneurship and highlighted the importance of developing essential skills to succeed in today’s competitive environment.
A dynamic group activity engaged students in collaborative brainstorming and pitching of entrepreneurial ideas. This exercise fostered creativity, teamwork, and cross-cultural understanding, while encouraging participants to explore innovative solutions to real-world challenges.
The session concluded with remarks by Prof. Dr. Zahid Rauf, Director of ICRMS, who highlighted the importance of entrepreneurial skills, youth empowerment, and continuous personal development. Certificates of participation were awarded by Prof. Dr. Zahid Rauf, along with Ms. Hifsa Ghafoor and Mr. Rahim Shah, recognizing the students’ active engagement and enthusiasm.
A total of 29 individuals participated in the workshop, including 11 males and 18 females. Among them, 13 were from the host community, while 16 were Afghan POR (Proof of Registration) cardholders. ICRMS staff also actively participated, contributing to the smooth and successful execution of the event.
