On April 17, 2025, the International Center for Refugee and Migration Studies (ICRMS) organized an orientation session for Afghan refugee students selected for the 2025 Crash Course Program. The session commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran.
Mr. Waseem Ur Rehman, Crash Course Coordinator at ICRMS, formally opened the session and welcomed the participants. He then invited Ms. Hifsa Ghafoor, Project Manager at ICRMS, to deliver the opening remarks. Ms. Hifsa expressed her views on the importance of education for refugee youth and motivated the students to pursue higher education and personal growth. She highlighted the supportive role of BUITEMS in creating opportunities for Afghan refugees and encouraged the students to fully engage with the program.
Following her inspiring address, Mr. Waseem resumed the session, providing a comprehensive overview of the 2025 Crash Course. He outlined its core objectives, shared successful outcomes from previous cohorts, and presented Student Acceptance Letters to the shortlisted participants. He also explained the academic guidelines and conduct expectations established by both BUITEMS and ICRMS, ensuring a productive and enriching 45 day learning experience.
A total of 63 students 27 female and 36 male participants attended the orientation session, along with members of the ICRMS staff.
To conclude the session, students formally signed contracts for their participation in the 45-day crash course. The contract terms were carefully translated to ensure all participants fully understood their commitments and responsibilities.
